These are the basic clone motor rules. Consult your specific class for any variations. Due to many different manufacturers of these engines, it is possible that some of them may contain parts that WILL NOT pass tech. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure your engine is in compliance with the rules. Exceptions will not be made, in order to ensure fairness to all competitors.
Any 196 cc clone motor. No Hondas. Claim rule is $150 cash and basic motor trade by any racer finishing their feature. Claims and protests may only be made within your race. Cash Money must be presented at the tech shack following the completion of the race within 10 minutes. Racers keep all bolt-ons such as air filter and adaptor, throttle kit, clutch, chain guard, tach, tank plate. Stock Mufflers are to remain with motor. Covers and sheetmetal are to remain with motor. Upon claim, the claimed motor and the motor of the claimee will be fully teched. $25 of the claim fee will be awarded to the tech man. If the claimed motor is illegal, claimer may withdraw the claim and all money is returned. The racer found to have an illegal motor will be suspended from all competitions for 2 calendar weeks. Also, Midwest Speedway officials may claim any motor in any class of stock clones at any time for $200 outright. Refusal of claim is no pay/trophy and racer is out for 2 weeks. A protest of a motor may be made for $75. Protested motor will be teched fully. If motor is found to be illegal, protester receives all money back. If deemed legal, $25 to tech man, $50 to protested motor. If refusal to tech, racer is out of all competition for 2 calendar weeks.
Carburetors, Only the Huayi and Rui*ing stamped carbs are legal. Gaskets and Seals must be in place and unaltered, no sealant. All stock carburetor gaskets must be in place and unaltered. One gasket must be used on each side of restrictor plates. No sealant. Stock insulator must be in place. Choke assy must be in place, functional and unaltered. External plastic piece on choke shaft must be in place. Choke bore must be as cast and measure .810" no go. Venturi .615" no go. Rear Carb bore .751" no go. Main nozzle (emulsion tube) stock .064" no go. Main Jet .044" no go. Low speed jet .018" no go, seals must be in place, unaltered. Carb body stock and unaltered. Throttle shaft and butterfly stock and unaltered.
Any air cleaner permitted that is safely installed and must filter from all areas. No air rams, elbows and snorkels must be straight up or slanted rearward.
Block must remain stock, no milling or machining. Max bore is 2.685" no go. max stroke is 2.118" to 2.128". Block may be welded for repairs so long as it doesn't constitute a performance enhancing modification. No welding above cooling fins. Extra side cover gaskets permitted, no sealant.
Combustion chamber subject to cc check. 26.5cc minimum with piston at top dead center.
Cylinder head No porting, grinding, or modifications of any type including milling or machining. Valve seats have 2 angles, single 45 degree bottom and single 30 degree top, compare to known stock. Valve seat to remain in stock position, no sinking or lowering of seat. Stock head gasket, stock head bolts, compare to known stock. Valve train stock, no polishing, grinding, alterations. Stock valves only, stock pushrods, stock rocker arms 1:1 ratio only (be sure to check, some are out of spec.) Valve seal and lash cap are optional, if used, only one seal on intake and one lash cap on exhaust allowed. No shims allowed. Stock retainers, Stock valve springs only, Max spring pressure 10.8 pounds at .850" height. Max wire diameter is .0685", other dimensions will be checked against known stock, such as number of coils, angles, spacing, length, etc.
Camshaft must be stock no mods or alterations. Max running lift will be checked at the retainers with zero lash. Intake not to exceed .238" exhaust not to exceed .242". EZ spin must be in place and functional. No twisted cams. Base circle .865. Duration check and profile may be added.
Crankshaft must be stock, no mods. Stock timing gear in stock position. Gear may be welded on. Governor gear may be removed.
Connecting rod and bolts stock, no mods.
Piston, stock with all stock rings in place. -.005" piston pop-up or less. In other words, not above the deck, but below the deck.
Flywheel must be stock, stock coil and ignition components. Plastic fins in place, stock timing, stock flywheel key, coil mounted with stock unaltered bolts.
Gasoline only, no Methanol. 93 octane max. No additives of any kind in tank, lines, carb, air cleaner, etc. Midwest Speedway reserves the right to supply fuel for any class clone at any time. Fuel tank must be removed from motor. Stock or approved tank to be safely floor mounted on kart. Top plate ok. Fuel pump can pulse from crankcase or valve cover. Catch can req'd.
All clones must run drum type Standard Noram GE series clutch only. No lightweights.
RLV mufflers should be safety wired, exhaust parts not to extend past rear bumper. If not running a muffler, a washer must be welded to end of header.
If you change engines or any major components during an event, it is your responsibility to notify jim or mike. Failure to do so may result in DQ.

If the rules don't say you can, you can't!
In all classes of karts, a Wolf plate or plate on backside of seat is strongly recommended. Also, a rib protector is strongly recommended to be worn by racers.
